Pleural thickening

This is a type of scarring (fibrosis) of the lungs and although it can be due to other causes (for example, chest injury or certain drugs), it is often linked to asbestos exposure.

It can occur on one lung or both lungs and may develop after pleural effusions.

Its formation can interfere with the functioning of the lung and cause shortness of breath and a lack of energy.

Compensation and benefits can be claimed.  The amount depends upon the extent of disability is causes.
