Legal Jargon Buster - What's a Covenant?
What's a "covenant"?
A covenant is a formal agreement of legal validity between two or more persons to do, or not to do, something.
An individual making a promise or agreement is called the covenantor. An individual to whom such a promise is made is called the covenantee.
For example, a covenant could be made to make regular payments to a charity; a covenant to repair is an agreement by a Landlord or Tenant or keep a rented property in good condition.
