Alternative Dispute Resolution - Arbitration, Mediation, Conciliation - what's the difference?
Arbitration - a third party reviews the evidence; the arbitrator makes a decision as to how it should be resolved and those involved agree to be bound by the decision of the arbitrator.
Mediation - a party-centered approach where a neutral third party assists the parties to reach an agreed conclusion.
Conciliation - a process where the parties to a dispute use a conciliator, who meets with the parties both separately and together in an attempt to resolve their differences.
